Performance Statement

LVPA Faculty Performance Statement

Performance is an integral part of our students’ class work. LVPA students are expected to perform every day. Whenever students practice their craft they are, in effect, performing. Performance enables students to display what they have learned and to be critiqued by teachers and peers, in order to grow as both students and artists. Motivated and dedicated students may be offered an opportunity for performances and exhibitions outside of the classroom.

WE SHARE A COMMON LANGUAGE

At LVPA we are all one. We belong to an artistic community where everyone shares a passion about their art. We are safe to create and experiment artistically, together. We don’t worry about failing because we are supported by our teachers and peers. We learn what it means to be an artist and what it means to be a good person.

IT TAKES FOCUS, HARD WORK AND DISCIPLINE TO SUCCEED

We know that to be successful as a professional artist we have to work hard everyday. LVPA gives us a framework for a real-world application of our art and provides us with a realistic view of what it means to be a professional artist. We get to experience what it takes to “make it” as an artist. Some of us have decided to study more traditional subjects in college. We are grateful to learn at an early age where we fit into the world.

OUR TEACHERS ARE OUR MENTORS AND FRIENDS

We learn by working side-by-side with our teachers who also work professionally in their field. Our teachers inspire us to achieve, grow and aspire to be the best we can be. They share our enthusiasm for the arts and academics too. We know we can go to them with any problems we have about art and life.

WE FEEL SECURE IN WHO WE ARE AND LOOK FORWARD TO CHANGING THE WORLD
